How to make resin tumblers

Making resin glass can be a fun and rewarding DIY project, but be sure to be patient and pay attention to the details to dampen the mood.

1. Gather your supplies:

2. Resin (commonly used epoxy resin)

3. Glass blanks (stainless steel or plastic)

4. Stirring cup and stirring rod at the same time

5. Disposable gloves

6. Breathing mask (for safety when working with resin)

7. Silicone mold release spray (optional)

8. Flash, fluorescent or other decorations

9. Heat gun or torch for bubble generation

10. Shields for your work area

11. Prepare your workspace:

12. Choose a well-ventilated workspace, preferably out of direct sunlight.

13. Cover your work surface with an integral tablecloth or plastic sheet to prevent spills and drips.

14. Wear protective gloves and a gas mask to avoid skin contact and inhalation of tobacco smoke.

15. Prepare glasses:

16. Deeply clean skin with soap and water to remove acne, oil or contaminants.

17. If desired, apply a thin layer of silicone release spray to the rotor to help release the resin at night.

18. Mix the resin:

19. Mix the resin and curing agent in the correct proportions according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

20. Mix the resin thoroughly but gently to minimize the formation of air bubbles.

21. Add color and decoration:

22. If you want to add color or decoration to the glass, mix pigments, glitter or other decorations into the resin.

23. Introduce the resin:

24. Pour the mixed resin over the prepared glass, starting at the top and allowing it to flow evenly.

25. Use a stirring stick or brush to spread the resin evenly over the surface of the shelf, making sure to cover it completely.

26. Highlight the air bubbles:

27. Use a heat gun or torch to carefully treat the surface of the resin to remove any air bubbles that may have formed.

28. Be careful not to overheat the resin or get too close to a heat source that could damage the glass.

29. Allow to cure:

30. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding resin curing time.

31. Place the glass on a level surface and avoid interference while curing to prevent uneven drying or dripping.

32. Finish and seal:

33. After the resin is fully cured, you may repair any rough edges or imperfections if necessary.

34. Apply a coat of clear resin or sealer to the finished glass to protect the surface and create a glass.

35. Admire your glass:

36. After the sealant dries, your resin glass is ready to be used or given as a gift.

By following these steps and taking some time, you can make beautiful resin glasses without feeling overwhelmed!
